In a study involving 63 adults, participants were given a 100 mg GABA capsule or a placebo and then asked to perform mentally challenging tasks. By monitoring their brainwave activity during the tasks, researchers found that those who took GABA showed less reduction in alpha and beta brainwave activities, commonly linked to stress response.
In simple words, GABA could help you feel less stressed during challenging mental tasks! This finding aligns with the self-reported mood scores of the participants too, suggesting that GABA not only changes the way our brain responds to stress but also how we feel during stressful situations.
