If you’re a physically active woman who wants to enhance your anaerobic exercise performance, Rhodiola Rosea (Golden Root Extract) may be a natural solution for you, based on recent research.
The objective of the study was to examine the effects of short-term Rhodiola Rosea supplementation on repeated Wingate performance. Eleven middle-aged physically active women participated in the study. Within a balanced group design, participants supplemented with either 1,500 mg/day Golden Root Extract or a placebo (gluten-free cornstarch) for three days. An additional 500 mg dose of the corresponding treatment was taken 30 minutes before testing in each trial.
During each performance test, the participants completed three 15-second Wingate Anaerobic Tests (WAnTs), separated by 2-minute active recovery periods. Each performance test was separated by a 7-day washout period.
The results were encouraging. The average wattage, anaerobic capacity, anaerobic power, peak wattage, and total work performed were all higher in the Golden Root Extract trial compared to the placebo. However, the average fatigue index remained unaffected regardless of the treatment.
To put it in layman’s terms, Rhodiola Rosea supplementation enhanced anaerobic exercise performance, measured by repeated Wingate Tests. Therefore, Rhodiola Rosea might have ergogenic benefits, offering important implications for improving anaerobic performance in repeated anaerobic exercises.
The bottom line is, if you’re seeking to enhance your anaerobic training results, this natural supplement could be worth considering. But remember, always consult with our healthcare specialists before starting any new supplement.
